But that's not what stands out the most, people make a place. West Africans are warm, humble people who share a deep faith. For most faith is all they have in this poor country.

At the half way point on our trip we stopped for gas in the city of St. Louis. The next thing I know children are all around me asking me to take their picture. One little boy asked me to take his picture and told me his name, Oumar. I won't forget that. I told him my name and we said goodbye.

12 and half hours later we pulled into the village and were overwhelmed with a warm welcome. Women, children and elders chanted "America!" The experience moved us to tears.
